GPA BACK MCGUINNESS OVER STAND-OFF WITH DONEGAL COUNTY BOARD

first_imgGAA: The GPA (Gaelic Players Association) has backed former Donegal manager over his dispute with the Donegal County Board regarding last year’s team holiday. McGuinness revealed that he and SIX other members of the Donegal panel hadn’t received compensation from being unable to go on the team holiday to Dubai. Traditionally, those unable to attend the holiday have received compensation in the form of travel vouchers. However, nearly a year on McGuinness broke his silence on the row and apologized for airing dirty linen in public.McGuinness felt he had no choice other than to raise the matter in public after he felt the Donegal County Board were trying to brush the issue under the carpet.McGuinness says the players and staff that had dedicated so much time and effort to Donegal deserved the compensation and blasted the Donegal County Board in a hard-hitting column with The Irish Times. The GPA Head of Communications Seán Potts has backed McGuinness and dismissed the clarifying statement from the Donegal County Board. The issue of revenue is an issue for an individual – they wouldn’t be in breach of anything,” he remarked.“The idea that a few players would miss out on the ability to travel is wrong and it shouldn’t have happened.“It seems really unfortunate that it would be left unattended to and what Jim and that squad have done in the last number of years has been quite phenomenal in terms of achievement.“This should have been sorted, this should not have been left in abeyance and it’s quite simply bad management in terms of administration.“Vouchers should’ve been secured and, as far as I’m aware, that’s what’s happened in similar situations in other counties.” GPA BACK MCGUINNESS OVER STAND-OFF WITH DONEGAL COUNTY BOARD was last modified: September 30th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Home-page Sportnewslast_img read more
