first_img May 20, 2016 Back to overview,Home naval-today US Navy awards BAE Systems another ship maintenance contract Under the latest contract, BAE will undertake highly complex waterborne ship repair which will include hull, machinery, electrical, electronics, piping and ship alteration work.The contract also includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $34,924,452.Work on the ship  will be carried out in Florida, and is expected to be completed by May 2017.The USS Fort McHenry recently participated in exercise Cold Response 2016 which took place in Norway in March. The dock landing ship was the only U.S. Navy ship to participate in the biennial exercise. US Navy awards BAE Systems another ship maintenance contract The U.S Navy has awarded BAE Systems a $29,2 million contract for phased maintenance availability repair work onboard the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship, USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43).This is the second ship-maintenance contract BAE has bagged this month as it was previously awarded a contract to maintain the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64).
